Uncontested divorce in NJ — common questions

How much does an uncontested divorce cost in NJ?

Our document preparation fee is a flat $399. The New Jersey court filing fee is $300, paid to the court. Total: $699. There are no hourly charges and no hidden fees. Payment plans are available.

Do I need a lawyer for an uncontested divorce in NJ?

No. If you and your spouse agree on the terms, New Jersey does not require a lawyer. We prepare your complete divorce document package based on your information, and you file it with the court. If you want legal advice, you should consult an attorney — we do not practice law.

Does my spouse need to sign?

No. Your spouse's signature is not needed to start an uncontested divorce in New Jersey. They must be notified of the proceedings, and we prepare the documents for that notification as well.

How long does an uncontested divorce take in NJ?

Most of our cases complete in about 6 to 8 weeks after filing. The exact timeline depends on the court's calendar. Your documents are ready the day we finish preparing them.

Do I have to go to court?

Once, at the end. On the hearing date scheduled by the court, you appear briefly and the judge finalizes your divorce. Your spouse is not required to appear.

What if we have children or own property together?

As long as you and your spouse have reached a mutual agreement on custody, visitation, support, or property division, we include those terms in your divorce package exactly as you have agreed to them.
